How HumorQ Works
HumorQ members live on a database where the popularity of their cartoon captions is tracked. On the first day after the entry, each entry is presented some number of times in a list of five for members to select. If it is selected from the list it continues on to up to two more days of voting. A member's humorq is based mostly on the popularity of their caption, but is also weighed up to 30% by the member's ability to select the most popular of the five choices they are presented when they are voting. Members must make a voting selection from each of the three previous day's contests prior to submitting a caption. Humorq scores are calculated by taking every unique score and numbering them 1 to 200 (using decimals where needed), therefore making just under 100 an average humorq, and a score of 180 or greater making you the top 10 percent. You don't have to understand any of this. You just have to try to be funny (and not vulgar), and have some fun while you're at it.

About twenty years ago, I thought I might have what it takes to
create greeting cards. I used some of the first card
software to create some samples, and there was one that I was
certain would be accepted by the card companies. It had a
picture of a muscular rabbit reaching into a hole and on the
outside it said "Here's an Easter riddle. What am I ?.
On the inside it had some musical notes and read
"It's a little fit bunny,
That's feeling inside."
A play on Elton John's Your Song lyrics. Well it got rejected along with the others. I know that card would still sell today. These days I occasionally enter caption contests, and again, I think I have some good ones. I even occasionally win, but still, it often doesn't seem like it's fair to create something funny and be left with -You weren't who some appointed few chose, so you get nothin'.
That's why I created HumorQ. Here everyone's creative effort gets the same fair shake by a huge and ever growing cast of judges. And everyone gets a score.
